This amazing hand-carved figurine is a tribute to Japanese artist Eisen Ikeda, also known as Keisai Eisen.
The figurine is inspired by one of this extraordinary artist's works The Ko - ya-Tama River, from the series Six Famous Rivers Named Tama. (±1820) Designed for the Dutch family company Parastone, known for its faithful copies of important and famous works of art sculptures sold all over the world. The statues are made of stone and marble powder which is bound by synthetic resin. This form of production ensures that the statues have a solid and durable quality.
Keisai Eisen was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who specialised in bijin-ga. His best works, including his ōkubi-e, are considered masterpieces of the "decadent" Bunsei era. He was also known as Ikeda Eisen and wrote under the name Ippitsuan
